Directions to the Lab

The lab is located in the basement of the Knapp building (87 East Ferry Street) that also hosts the Institute of Gerontology.

It is right next to the historic Freer House and across the street from the trendy Inn on Ferry. The building is one block north of the Detroit Institute of Arts, and right off to the east of Woodward Avenue.The building can be accessed from East Ferry street or from John R. If you need assistance during normal office hours, you can usually find a friendly face in the reception desk on the 1st floor.

Access

From the parking lot: Enter through the brown double doors of the Institute of Gerontology, walk down the stairs and follow the hallway to your right (which continues with a left turn) all the way to our lab which is located in Suite 008.
You can also enter the building from Ferry Street. Once in the building take the stairs down to the basement, then follow the hallway to your right (which continues with a left turn) all the way to our lab which is located in Suite 008.

Parking Information

The parking lot requires a WSU pass card or cash payment to enter. We can arrange for you to park your car in the parking lot. Please notify us if you would like to use this option. There is a $5.00 charge at the gate. Only quarters and dollar bills are accepted.
You can also find non-metered 2-hour limit parking on East Ferry Street, and metered parking on nearby streets. Be sure to read the signs.

Driving Directions

From Eastbound I-94:
Exit at Woodward/John R.
Turn right on John R (one way).
The parking lot is the first driveway on the right after Palmer St. (between the Knapp and Skillman buildings).

From Westbound I-94:
Exit at Woodward /Brush St. (the first exit after I-75).
Turn left on John R (BP gas station on the corner).
Cross I-94, the service drive, and Palmer St. (You will see the back of the Knapp Building.)
The parking lot is the first driveway on the right after Palmer St. (between the Knapp and Skillman buildings).

From The Lodge (M-10):
Take the Lodge (M-10) to I-94 East.
Exit at the Woodward/John R. exit.
Turn right on John R (one way).
The parking lot is the first driveway on the right after Palmer St. (between the Knapp and Skillman buildings).

From I-75:
Exit I-75 at Warren Ave.
Turn on Warren Ave. (going East: right from the North, left from the South).
Turn right (North) on Woodward Ave.
Turn right on Palmer St.
Turn right on John R (one way).
The parking lot is the first driveway on the right after Palmer St. (between the Knapp and Skillman buildings).

From I-96:
Take I-96 to I-94 East.
Follow directions for Eastbound I-94.
